What started out as a big day with an early morning commitment from San Diego State's first four-star recruit since 2021 ended with some more good news. UCLA safety William Nimmo, Jr. announced his transfer commitment to the Aztecs following a weekend visit to The Mesa.

The newest transfer addition actually visited with said four-star recruit as both Nimmo and 2024 cornerback Jason Mitchell spent time on campus together over the weekend. Now both will join the secondary at SDSU next season.

Nimmo entered the portal Dec. 4 but had kept the process quiet up until announcing his pledge to the Aztecs. The former high three-star prospect from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana signed with the Bruins as a member of the 2019 class.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive back comes to San Diego State with plenty of experience on his side. Nimmo, a redshirt junior with one season of remaining eligibility, played in 25 games over the last two seasons in Westwood.

He started one game this season and played in all 12. The Corona native collected 21 tackles this year to go along with two tackles for loss.

In his career, he has 43 tackles. He had at least two tackles in eight games this season.

Nimmo is the third transfer addition from a Power 5 program for the Aztecs since new head coach Sean Lewis arrived from Colorado. Buffaloes receiver-turned-tight end Michael Harrison and Florida State quarterback AJ Duffy are the other two to join so far.

In all, the Aztecs have commitments from three defensive back transfers now as well with Nimmo coming in alongside New Mexico's Zach Morris and Tennessee State's Bryce Phillips.

SDSU currently holds commitments from 15 high school recruits and nine transfers heading into a busy day Wednesday as the early signing period opens up.
