Three-star OL Kai Holec goes in-depth on his SDSU commitment

San Diego State added its ninth commitment of the 2024 recruiting class and second offensive lineman on Monday, as three-star tackle Kai Holec (Seattle, Washington) announced his Aztecs decision.

Holec, listed at 6-foot-8, 295 pounds, had offers from Louisville and Idaho while BYU and Arizona State were continuing to evaluate him for potential offers, but ultimately he decided he had already found everything he wanted at SDSU and didn't want to wait any longer.

"Honestly, I was planning on committing on my birthday, which is Aug. 28, but I called [offensive line coach Mike] Goff and I felt like there wasn't anything else that would have beaten out San Diego State. I think it was perfect," Holec told Aztec Sports Report. "And with all of the uncertainty that's going on right now with the Pac-12 and the last four teams, looking at what they're going to do or if the Pac-12 stays together, I kind of looked at it and saw that San Diego is primed to move into that Power 5.
