While many of the bigger Division-1 programs fill up with early commitments, the Aztecs and other Mountain West programs don't see recruiting heat up until football season.

San Diego State does, however, boast one verbal commitment from the Class of 2006.
Martrell Fantroy, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive back from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, made a pledge to the Aztecs last week.
"I took a visit to San Diego State because I had a basketball tournament out there," he explained. "I got a chance to meet the coaches and check it out. It seemed like home, it seemed like somewhere that I could be at for four years.
"I like the fact that it's close to my family. I wanted to go somewhere that my parents and some of my friends could come to some of my games.
"My parents thought it was a great choice for me and they agreed with me, so I decided to commit."
After making the commitment, Fantroy talked with head coach Tom Craft and the rest of the staff. "They were pretty happy with the fact I was committing," he said. "I really got to know the coaches and it seems like a good fit because they are down to earth."
Utah had also offered Fantroy a scholarship. Which other schools were showing interest? "Oregon had come by my school, I got a lot of interest from San Jose State, I talked to Mike Stoops from Arizona and also Fresno State," he explained.
Fantroy has accounted for 87 tackles, three interceptions and 12 pass breakups the past two seasons. "I play for my team," he said. "I don't always try to make the spectacular play. I do whatever my coaches need me to do for us to win. I look at myself as being a leader and I just look to make my teammates better."
At the Palo Alto NIKE Camp, Fantroy tested out with a 4.83-forty, 4.32-shuttle, 25.9-inch vertical and also did 14 reps on the bench press.
"I was nervous at the NIKE Camp, that was the first combine I had been to," he admitted. "I was definitely more happy with the one-on-ones and the drills. I had never run a laser timed forty so that was different."
According to Fantroy, he typically runs a 4.5-forty at his high school. "My forty speed is what I'm trying to improve on the most this summer along with my vertical," he added.
Fantroy will also start at receiver in the same offense as five-star running back Demarco Murray. "We definitely want to win a state championship this year," Fantroy expressed. "It's a great opportunity for us to do it, with all the players we have coming back. We have Demarco, he is the best player every time he steps on the field, and safety Lorenzo Sartini. We definitely have the best athletes in Las Vegas."
