Aztecs first to offer Huntington Beach lineman

A two-time first-team all-league selection, Romney Fuga is also a CIF wrestling champion. He recently picked up his first scholarship offer for his skills on the gridiron.
"San Diego State offered me a full ride," explained the 6-foot-2, 275-pounder from Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison. "I think it is a good program, I saw them play a couple games last year."

"I am just waiting got see what other schools offer," he added. "It's too early to decide."
Although he plays offensive tackle at the high school, according to Fuga, the Aztecs have shown interest in him as a defensive tackle.
BYU, Arizona, Cal, Stanford and most of the programs in the Pac-10 have also shown recruiting interest.
"I would like to go to BYU because I'm Mormon," Fuga said. "But If I don't go there, it's not going to be a total disappointment. I also have interest in staying close to home."
Fuga will most likely take his Mormon mission after he turns 19.
Last season, Fuga gave up just three sacks and recorded roughly 50 pancake blocks.
"I think my best attribute is my resilience and the fact I never break down," he expressed. "Some players let a bad play affect them. But I always make a bad play motivate me."
Academically, Fuga projects as a full-qualifier. He currently maintains a "B" average.
