SDSU lands three 2015 commits

San Diego State hosted a large group of in-state prospects for its annual Warrior Day event on Saturday and three Inland Empire prospects from Ground Zero - a 7-on-7 program coordinated by Armond Hawkins - decided to pull the trigger and commit to the program before leaving.
Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill defensive back Mike Bell, Upland (Calif.) tight end Hasani Smith and Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) wide receiver Jerry Chaney all announced their commitments to San Diego State and head coach Rocky Long via Twitter.

Bell, rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, shined this spring playing cornerback during the 7-on-7 circuit, although he may project more as a safety at the collegiate level. He has the prototypical size for Long's 'Warrior' position.
Smith is also an important addition to this year's recruiting class as SDSU elected not to sign a tight end in 2014. On film, Smith's frame and long arms makes it look as though he may develop into a potential offensive tackle as an Aztec, but the athletic ability he has shown this spring could definitely lead to a bright future at tight end as well.
Chaney is another versatile prospect who can even line up on both sides of the field. Offered just hours prior to Warrior Day, Chaney said that SDSU receivers coach LeCharls McDaniel reminds him of former Aztec star receiver Vincent Brown.
With the Ground Zero-trio now on board, look for the three SDSU commits to recruit fellow GZ teammates such as 2015 Upland DB Elijah Jones and 2016 Rialto (Calif.) Carter linebacker Lokeni Toailoa.
San Diego State also landed a commitment from Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei 2016 wide receiver Davir Hamilton early Saturday.
