Four commits in 48 hours, LB Josh Bornes on board

San Diego State's 2018 class has began with a talented string of commitments and there are no signs of the recruiting momentum slowing down any time soon.

San Marcos (Calif.) linebacker Josh Bornes became the fourth prospect to commit to SDSU within a 48-hour span, pulling the trigger Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot, 190-pound prospect received an early offer from SDSU and a commitment started brewing once he got on campus for the school's hometown hero day. Bornes' high school team then participated in San Diego State's recent passing tournament and it appeared as though it was only a matter of time.

(Coincidentally around this time, former San Marcos DE/LB Joah Robinett announced that he was leaving Oregon State and returning home, transferring to SDSU as a walkon).

Bornes without question has to be a favorite for head coach Rocky Long. After striking big on former Oceanside linebacker Jake Fely in one of his first recruiting classes, Long has always had a liking for speedy linebackers that can hit, regardless of size.

Bornes is in that same mold. Watch his tape and ball carriers instantly bounce off of him. He's a quiet kid who just so happens to make loud collisions. He also shows great instincts and vision on the offensive side of the ball, traits that translate well at inside linebacker.

Bornes committed to SDSU over offers from San Jose State and Hawaii.

At this rate, there's a good chance the coaching staff will haul in another commit or two by week's end.

SDSU recruiting coordinator Tony White apparently seems to think so too:
