Herring back on the market

Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill wide receiver Jacoby Herring has decommitted from San Diego State and reopened his recruitment.
The three-star receiver committed to SDSU during the summer but is now ready to pursue other options during the final two months leading up to signing day.

Herring, a 6-foot-5 prospect, hasn't scheduled any visits but he's eager to get his name back on the radar.
"I'm just trying to make myself available again because I feel I made my decision too soon so now I want to really weigh my options," he said. "I know it's going to take some time because schools need to go back and do the reevaluation thing and watch my film again but I'm letting everybody know that I'm available again.
"I'm hoping to set up visits with the schools that recruited me before but I'm also open to any other schools too. I'm not going to be picky, I'm just ready to start looking around and take my visits."
Herring participated in satellite camps during the summer and didn't visit many campuses other than Arizona State. Schools like Colorado State, Oregon State, UNLV and Washington State continued to send him letters following his commitment but most of the verbal communication stopped.
"The commitment kind of slowed everything down but I'm ready to start it over again," Herring said. "I feel like I can do a lot on the field for a school. Not just with the ball in the air but in my hands. If I can get a quick release I'll get yards after the catch every time.
"I'm not just a tall receiver, I'm pretty strong and I can move my feet. It's not often you see a tall receiver that can make guys miss after the catch. I don't just depend on my height every play."
Herring also plays basketball for his high school team but he may skip the sport this fall to focus on individual training with his sister and brother, former UNLV QB Caleb Herring.
"I'm just going to keep grinding and not worry about the next level until I sign the papers because wherever I go I know I'll be ready."
