Colorado transfer DB Tayvion Beasley announces commitment to SDSU

Tayvion Beasley was a standout multi-year contributor at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, which is considered among the top teams in the country. His production there led him to several Power Five offers including Michigan, USC and Oregon, but he spurned all those programs to play for Deion Sanders at Jackson State.

Beasley then moved to Colorado when Sanders left for the Pac-12 in the winter before again entering the transfer portal last month. Monday, the three-star transfer announced his commitment to San Diego State becoming the latest big addition for the Aztecs this offseason.

The 5-foot-11 cornerback from Inglewood contributed as a freshman in 2022 playing in nine games for the Tigers on their way to a SWAC championship. Beasley came up with two interceptions and three pass breakups in his first college season to go along with eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

His second interception came in the SWAC title game against Southern while his first was against Florida A&M in his collegiate debut.

Beasley is the second notable Pac-12 transfer to join the Aztecs in recent weeks after Oregon defensive back Jalil Tucker announced his commitment to the program earlier this month. Tucker will make the move to offense at SDSU.

Beasley's detour to Boulder likely means he will have to sit out the upcoming season since his move to San Diego State will mark the second transfer in his career.

He decided to join the Buffaloes shortly after Sanders announced his own move to Colorado before going through spring ball with his new team in March and April. There has been significant roster turnover at Colorado this spring, even for players who followed Sanders, leaving Beasley to look for a new home in recent weeks.

Beasley is rated as a three-star transfer and No. 680 overall in the Rivals portal rankings this offseason.
