EYBL Session 01 stock raisers

MORE: EYBL top players | EYBL Friday | EYBL Saturday

A number of prospects raised their stock over the weekend with impressive play at Session 01 of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Although he is already highly ranked, Aaron Gordon stood out with his stellar all-around play.

Aaron Gordon (2013, Oakland Soldiers)
We knew this five-star prospect was good, but we didn't know he was this good. A high level athlete, Gordon is a rebounder and inside scoring threat but also much more. His ball-handling was outstanding and he continually made positive plays in the open court. The ceiling for Gordon as a prospect is extremely high.

Justin Anderson (2012, Boo Williams)
Speaking of high level athletes, there might not be a prospect in the 2012 class as athletic as Anderson. Now it looks like his skill level and feel for the game are beginning to catch up to his athleticism. Still certainly a work in progress, Anderson had periods of play when he was dominant on both ends of the court.

Anthony Bennett (2012, CIA Bounce)
A physical player with a high motor and a grinder's mentality, Bennett is destined to be a highly productive college player. He rebounds in traffic, finishes against contact and can make plays on the perimeter. It isn't always pretty, but Bennett can be counted upon to get the job done.

Anthony Barber (2013, Boo Williams)
His nickname is "Cat" and it fits Barber's playing style. A sleek athlete with a ton of wiggle to his game, Barber is a high level penetrator. Once by his defender he is a creative finisher and passer capable of making the tough play. The tools are also there for him to be a disruptive defender.

Willie Cauley (2012, MoKan Elite)
An athletic 6-foot-10 center, Cauley is making the move from being a promising prospect to being a legit high level prospect. Talented around the rim as a rebounder, shot blocker and scorer, Cauley also moves his feet well in pick and roll situations on the perimeter and offensively he is a threat to attack the basket from the high post.

Rondae Jefferson (2013, Team Final)
Jefferson has all the makings of a high level small forward. He is long and athletic, attacks the basket with zeal and is a tough rebounder in traffic. In addition, Jefferson competes on the defensive end and has a promising all-around offensive skill set that will only improve.

Darrick Wood (2012, Playaz)
A lean athlete, Wood is poised to make a ton of buckets at the college level. He is a sharpshooter with a quick and elevated release. Off the dribble, he is especially dangerous on the baseline. The instincts and athleticism are also there for him to be a playmaker defensively.

Mike Tobey (2012, New York Gauchos)
Not only does Tobey have a ton of potential, he was also quite productive over the weekend. He had outstanding numbers for rebounding and blocking shots, and was a productive supporting scorer for Omar Calhoun. Long and mobile, Tobey should be an impact player for Virginia.

Anthony January (2012, ICP)
Looking very much like Arizona's Solomon Hill, January is an athletic combo forward who has an impressive all-around game. The most impressive aspect of his game this weekend was his passing off slashing drives to the basket. He is also a dangerous rebounder and has the tools to be a high level defender.

Anthlon Bell (2012, Memphis YOMCA)
Poised to emerge as a high major prospect, Bell has all the tools coaches look for in a shooting guard. At 6-foot-3 he has adequate size for his position and is plenty athletic. He was one of the top three-point shooters in the event, and he is a solid ball handler and passer.
