Jones has three unofficials in mind
Landry Jones won't be on the board for long.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound signal-caller from Artesia, N.M., is considered a top quarterback and one of the 100 best prospects in the Class of 2008 according to Rivals.com. In quarterback recruiting elite status such as a Rivals100 ranking usually means a verbal commitment will be made long before the official visit season begins.
Jones expects to wrap up his recruitment in the next few months, saying a decision should come between March and May. That's why unofficial visits have become so important to Jones' recruitment. He's already visited the campuses of Colorado, Oregon and UCLA, while at least three more schools will get him on campus.
The candidates for visits includes a list of programs that have offered - Arizona, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Virginia and Wisconsin - and one on the verge of offering, Oklahoma. In all, Jones claims seven offers with Colorado and Oregon being the other two.
