Drew to take UNC unofficial on Saturday
RALEIGH, N.C. - Although Friday night's championship game of the Glaxo-Smith-Kline Invitational wasn't what Larry Drew and his Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft teammates were hoping for, it served as a valuable learning experience for the No. 3 point guard in the Rivals Class of 2008 rankings.
Drew's Toreadors were dominated by Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict, 69-43, as the junior point guard struggled from the perimeter, making just 2 of 12 shot attempts.
"That's why they are ranked as high as they are, at the top of the nation," Drew said after the game. "They have a heck of a team. I never really found my rhythm in the game. I can say they did a pretty good job on me. They disrupted my rhythm a little bit, but I tried to find ways to drive and kick, but they kind of took away the options. They were a very disciplined team, and it showed."
Drew finished the game with nine points, five assists, three rebounds, and two turnovers.
