Bulldogs back to the routine
Following two straight losses, Mississippi State returned to the practice fields on Tuesday for their first extensive work coming off the LSU game.
Second-year head coach Dan Mullen was pleased with the way his squad performed and is glad to get back to the Bulldogs normal game week routine.
"I like our team's intensity," Mullen said. "I like how we came out and worked. This is really our first game week schedule and that's what's a little bit different for us. We came off preseason camp into a short week and then into a long week so now it's our regular game week. It's good to get back into that routine."
Mullen is turning to his team captains, Derek Sherrod, Pernell McPhee, Chris White and K.J. Wright to step up their vocal leadership roles to help the team through these past two weeks.
"Our captains are trying to work at it to continue to do it," Mullen said. "I think part of it is that guys worry about themselves and worry about their personal performance. A lot of them lead by example and that's not always good enough. You've got to get after it and be a good vocal leader as well."
MSU had some communication issues along the offensive line this past Saturday against LSU. The veteran Bulldog front is working this week to ensure that does not happen against Georgia.
